Event Overview:

Improvement Practitioner 'bolt-on' sessions are designed to support members who wish to either build on their learning from AQuA’s Improvement Practitioner and Advanced Improvement Practitioner programmes, or to focus in more depth on the topic offered. They support the development of skills, knowledge and confidence in applying concepts and theories to bring about sustainable quality improvement projects.

Who is this event aimed at?

This session is ideal for members leading a particular service or directorate, who have participated in either the Improvement Practitioner or Advanced Improvement practitioner programmes, and wish to further develop their knowledge of measurement for improvement. It will also be useful for individuals who would like a more in-depth training session on measurement.

What will attendees learn at this event / workshop?

In this session, attendees will gain a more in-depth understanding of what improvers mean by measurement, and in particular outcome measures, process measures and balancing measures. They will be able to develop increase their knowledge of how to use run charts, statistical process control charts, bar chart and Pareto charts in improvement projects, and the importance of frequent measurement to monitor improvement.

They will also gain an understanding of variation (specifically common cause variation and special cause variation) in datasets, and how to interpret complex information and communicate statistical information effectively.

• Apply the tools and techniques in my workplace

• Define measures for a specific project

• Know how to access the right data

• Understand how to interpret the data and communicate the story


Conditions of this event:

1. This event is free to all Advancing Quality Alliance (AQuA) member organisations. In some cases, places can be paid for by non-members. If you’re interested in attending and are not a member then contact us. If you are unsure whether your organisation is an AQuA member, please click here.

2. Final event arrangements are confirmed with the venue up to two weeks before the event. In order to ensure that places are not wasted please let us know if you are no longer able to attend. Many of our events operate waiting lists so this will enable us to reallocate your place to someone else on the list.

3. We take photographs and occasionally video/live stream at our events. We use these pictures and video on our website and in other media such as Twitter and news publications. If you do not want to be photographed or filmed please let a member of the AQuA team know at the event.

4. By signing up for an AQuA event, we will add your contact details to our CRM system and let you know about future events, as well as send you our fortnightly e-bulletin. If you do not want to receive information from us, please let us know by emailing us and we will remove your name from our mailing list.

5. Supporting resources, presentations and other materials from the event will be made available on our website after the event for 30 days.
