In this course you will build on the basic throwing and turning skills developed in our Introduction to Throwing course.

You’ll improve your confidence and control on the potter’s wheel, learning how to throw larger amounts of clay and create a range of curved bowl shapes. By the end of the 4 weeks, you will have created a small group of thrown bowls with turned footrings.

Techniques covered include:

The stages of throwing a bowl
Centring and pulling up larger amounts of clay
Experiment with a range of curved shapes
Develop turning and trimming techniques
Glazing your work

You will need

This session is perfect for those who have attended our Introduction to Throwing course, or anyone able to confidently throw and trim a cylinder on the potter’s wheel.

We recommend trimming long nails prior to the session, removing any jewellery, and tying back long hair.

Additional Information

This pottery course takes place over 4 consecutive weeks starting on your booked date.

There are just 4 places on each session, which will offer a high level of one-on-one teaching and a close-knit studio experience.

The course cost includes all materials, tools and clay, plus glazing and firing of your finished pieces.
