What will the event cover?

Delegates will find out more about the latest research on housing quality in Wales and how investments in housing can help to improve health and wellbeing.

The event will cover a number of recent projects evaluating warm homes initiatives, such as Arbed and NEST schemes, and housing improvements by social housing providers to attain the Welsh Housing Quality Standard, as well as the Welsh Housing Condition Survey.

Following informative sessions from our four invited speakers, delegates will have the opportunity to participate in a 50 minute panel discussion.


Who are the speakers?

Speakers will include Dr Simon Nicol of the Building Research Establishment (BRE), Professor Sarah Rodgers from Health Data Research-UK at Swansea University, Professor Wouter Poortinga from the Welsh School of Architecture at Cardiff University and Sian Morrison-Rees from the Administrative Data Research Centre Wales (ADRC-W).

Panel members will include Dr Simon Nicol, Director, BRE Housing, Gaynor Toft, Community Wellbeing Manager Ceredigion County Council and Chair of the Wales Private Sector Housing Expert Panel, Carole Morgan-Jones, Director, NEA Cymru and Rhidian Jones, Head of Housing & Health, Welsh Government.


Who should attend?

The event is aimed at policy makers in housing and health, as well as academics and others interested in links between health and the built environment.


Delegate registration is from 12:15 where a light lunch will be provided prior to the event starting at 13:00. The event will finish at 15:30.


This seminar will be delivered in English.

Is parking available?

The Main Building car park is accessed from Park Place. There is public street parking along Park Place and Museum Avenue, where blue badge holders can park free of charge. Parking is very limited and there are 5 designated accessible parking bays. Visitors can reserve a parking space in advance by contacting: carparking@cardiff.ac.uk

There are 68 bicycle parking spaces shared between three locations around the building.


The seminar is organised by the Administrative Data Research Centre Wales (ADRC-W), the Welsh School of Architecture (WSA), and the UK Collaborative Centre for Housing Evidence (CaCHE).
