Improving language, improving lives: Lessons for ESOL delivery in the secure estate
As part of the Bell Foundation’s Language for Change programme, Learning and Work Institute, in partnership with De Montfort University, is delivering Improving Language, Improving Lives. This three-year project aims to enhance ESOL screening and provision delivery in prisons by working with tutors, prison staff and learners to develop and pilot an ESOL screening tool and a Citizens’ Curriculum ESOL course.
This free event will share the findings of the first year of the project and discuss the lessons learned for ESOL screening and delivery in the secure estate. It will provide an update on latest policy developments, workshops on screening methods, participatory delivery approaches and useful resources for ESOL delivery, as well as opportunities for delegates to network and share practice.
Who should attend?
This event is for ESOL practitioners, education managers and Heads of Learning and Skills working in the secure estate. You may work in a prison or in the community with learners who have had recent experience of the Criminal Justice System. Policy makers are also welcome.
To share the findings of the first year of Improving Language, Improving Lives, and provide opportunities for updates and discussions on ESOL in the secure estate more widely.
