Programme Overview
This programme draws on the most recent and robust evidence to support all pupils and particularly those struggling with their literacy. To develop the recommendations that underpin the programme the EEF reviewed the best available international research and consulted experts to arrive at key principles for effective literacy teaching.
Across the 3 days, delegates will be supported to review the recommendations around oracy, reading and writing with an emphasis on quality first teaching for all. Audit tools will enable delegates to consider current practice and the extent to which this is currently aligned with the recommendations found within the KS1 and KS2 Literacy Guidance Reports. For those pupils that fall behind delegates will review a range of diagnostic tools to ensure that we are able to accurately diagnose barriers to learning to ensure interventions offer the right ‘prescription’.
Through exploring the Guidance Reports for both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, delegates will consider curriculum planning to ensure that there is a clear progression in skills that reflects the pupils’ increasing depth of knowledge and skills so that pupils begin to strategies with increasing independence and sophistication, combing them where relevant.
