Event description

Description

Data can improve our lives! Come along and hear how Government are using data about Scotland’s population, and in health and education, and what they are doing to understand the needs of those who use the data they provide.

Presentations :

  • How Scotland’s population is changing and the implications of this – National Records of Scotland
  • The benefits of health and care data to your area – NHS: Information Services Division
  • What Government are doing to understand the needs of users of our data – Scottish Government
  • Enhancing the provision of information about schools in Scotland - Scottish Goverment

Interactive session:

  • Between the presentations, there will be an interactive session. A number of stalls will be set up, demonstrating data published by different parts of the government in Scotland and some other organisations. There will be an opportunity to speak to presenters, see what is available, ask questions, and discuss ideas or problems you are having.

Tea and Coffee will be served on arrival from 12:30 and the speakers will be available at their stalls. Presentations start at 13:00.

The UK’s first week-long festival of Data Innovation comes back to Scotland from the 19 to 23 March 2018. This is a DataFest2018 Fringe event.

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Parking is not available, but the event will be held at New Register House, which is just off the east end of Princes Street (round the corner from the Apple Store), so there are excellent public transport links by bus, tram or train. The event location is just two minutes from Edinburgh Waverley Station.
