Event description

Description

Speakers: Ian Dyson QPM, Commissioner of the City of London Police; Dr Rick Muir, Director of the Police Foundation and Professor Martin Gill, Director of Perpetuity Research

Fraud is now one of the largest components of crime in the UK, with 3.3 million victims in the last year and one third of victims assessing the impact to them as severe or significant. Despite this, fraud has been an under prioritised area of crime for many years and fraud victims have received a patchy and inconsistent service.

This event marks the launch of a major new report from the Police Foundation and Perpetuity Research. The report is the culmination of two years' research, looking at how well fraud is investigated, the service victims receive and what is done by the police and partners to prevent fraud. The report calls for major changes in how fraud is policed and makes a set of recommendations with the aim of affecting a step change in the response.

The event will include a presentation of findings of the report and a response from Ian Dyson, the Commissioner of the City of London Police.
