Event description

Description

The FETN Annual Conference provides a unique opportunity for managers and practitioners to share good practice, discuss topical issues and network with colleagues and sector experts in the pursuit of excellence.

The workshops offer a range of themes that support the development and improvement of tutorial, support and learner development across the Education and Training sector.

Our opening keynote this year, delivered by Gary Philips, Head of Workforce Development at the Education & Training Foundation, is No longer a side dish: the importance of tutorial in our outcome focused world’. This thought provoking presentation will provide an opportunity to reflect on why, and how, tutorial in its various guises can no longer be just an add on to a student’s programme, and the cost to a provider who does not take it seriously.

Our afternoon keynote is 'British Values including Prevent in the context of the tutoring role' delivered by Julie Gibson, author, Ofsted inspector, chief examiner and respected advisor. This will be an interactive presentation that explores British values, including Prevent and how we manage these effectively. It will focus on practice, rather than theory, allowing reflection on what will help your learners to enjoy both achievement now and positive next steps.

Workshops themes include:

  • The challenges of the Tutor Assessor in Work Based Learning
  • Tutoring Higher Education students in a Further Education context
  • Equality, Diversity & Inclusion in Adult Learning
