Event description
A fun and physical approach to improvisation and storytelling where you will explore basic tools to tell stories in different ways

About this event

A fun and physical approach to improvisation and storytelling where you will tap into a sense of curiosity, playfulness and joy. This online workshop gives you basic tools to tell stories in different imaginative ways.

The session includes:

  • Games and warm-ups
  • Breathing and voice exercises
  • Movement
  • Improvisation training
  • Storytelling techniques

The course is suitable for beginner and experienced actors and non-actors, as well as musicians, performers and/or directors and anyone interested in imrpovisation and storytelling. If you have access needs please let us know, we'd love to hear from you.

During the sessions you will develop movement awareness, verbal and non-verbal storytelling, basic movement technique and vocabulary based on Lecoq and other physical theatre languages. As well as improvisational tasks you will explore solos, duets and group acts.

Although this is a digital course, spaces are limited. The group will be small so we can really connect with each other. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis. We understand that COVID-19 has impacted people's economy so there is a sliding scale payment.

You will need access to Zoom (www.zoom.us), and internet connection. We'll be in touch ahead of the event by email, with a link and more information.

Do you have questions? Please don't hesitate to get in touch. Bookings are now open and places can be secured by emailing infoanahattheatre@gmail.com or booking online.

What to bring

· A water bottle

· A notebook and a pen to write down notes or personal discoveries

Space

· You don't need a lot of space to do this workshop, just enough to move with arms and legs outstretched (think of the size of a yoga mat).

Feedback from previous participants

Andrea creates a safe space that opens new possibilities of exploration and experimentation

Julian

This is a great workshop for any actor/actress, just let yourself be open to it and you will learn a lot. Very interactive and lots of fun.

Sadhb

The breakout rooms were a nice feature as (a) you could practise things without other participants seeing what you were doing and (b) the timing was controlled by the programme, so didn't become elastic. Another aspect of using Zoom that I liked, but hadn't expected, was that you could use the screen as a frame for your gestures and actions, which focussed attention on them much more. A case of limitation actually opening up more opportunities for creativity, rather than limiting them!
