Each week we will be improvising narrative long form in a different film genre.

About this event

In the first part of the class we will focus on types of character, storytelling techniques, exercises and games, film and narrative structures as well as genre conventions and tropes.

In the second part of the lesson we will improvise at least one 30-45 minute long narrative long form set from beginning to end.

Previous classes have included genres like: Film noir, horror, Sherlock Holmes, fantasy, science fiction, comedy, murder mystery, among others.

Sunday 23rd of May, genre still to be decided.

Some previous acting or improv experience is recommended, but not essential.

Luis Rafael Nogueira has been performing, teaching and directing improv for almost 10 years. He has trained in London with improv companies and schools such as Hoopla, Imprology, The Comedy school among others. He has also trained clowning and masks in Spain as well as improv. He has been living in Spain for 9 years.

He has been training intensively with UK and US-based companies and schools since the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020. Such companies include: The Maydays, The Nursery, Hoopla, Amanda Rountree (ex-Second City), The Hideout Theatre (Texas) and Liverpool Improv Comedy.
