About this event

The Specials came at a crucial time in Pete’s teenage years, shining a light on injustices, and speaking to his own experience of how it felt growing up in a small town.

Join Pete and founding member of The Specials, Horace Panter as they listen to The Specials first LP in full, and discuss how the songs were made, the influences for the band, their hybrid sound and most importantly their impact on Pete.

The evening will conclude with an audience Q&A with Pete and Horace.

Please note the event will start at 6pm and run for approx. 90 mins. There will then be the opportunity to explore the exhibition before the museum closes at 8pm.

Horace Panter is a founding member and bassist of The Specials. While known predominantly as a musician, he became a professional artist in his own right in 2010. You can find his work here.

This event is part of the programme of events complementing The Boy with a Leg Named Brian: Memoirs by Pete McKee exhibition at Weston Park Museum, which continues until 2 Nov 2025.
