Event description

Description

In order to celebrate the first anniversary of Mike Amesbury's election as MP for Weaver Vale and Andy Burnham's election as Mayor, Weaver Vale Labour Party members and their families are invited to join Mike and his good friend, Mayor Andy Burnham at the Bear’s Paw in Frodsham to have a drink, a catch up, and a chance to socialise.

Mike will be talking a little bit of politics with Andy too. Devolution in our region, how he is using his role to tackle the soaring homelessness that we are seeing under this government, and how by working together Labour figures locally are putting Labour values into practice and helping secure our goal of a Labour Government. Mike will also be talking with Andy about his role in the campaign to secure justice for the 96 Hillsborough victims and their families.

It’s also a chance for us to get together socially – even though we are already out on the doors in preparation for the crucial all out elections in Cheshire West and Chester too, it’s important that we socialise as well as campaign – and for the football fans amongst us, (that includes myself and Andy), the World Cup will of course be on in the bar!

The event will be on Thursday 21st June at 7.00 at the Bear’s Paw in Frodsham and all are welcome.

It would be great to see you there.

The event is free – although we will be giving members the opportunity to contribute towards one of our local foodbanks should they choose to do so. 12 months ago in Mike's maiden speech, he highlighted what a disgrace it was that Foodbanks exist in our country. Shockingly this government’s policies have caused foodbank use in our area to rise even further since then.
