Event description

Description

The Fabian International Policy Group in partnership with Clifford Chance is extremely delighted to be hosting a special ‘In Conversation’ event with Baroness Amos, the former UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator on the evening of Thursday 19 July.

This exciting event offers a great opportunity for members to hear from one of the UK’s most distinguished politicians who has served at the highest levels of government in the UK and at the UN.

Baroness Amos served in her role at the UN between 2010-2015. She was also the first black woman to serve in the British cabinet, as International Development Secretary and later as Leader of the House of Lords.

At this event, Ms Amos will be discussing issues as diverse as the Syrian refugee crisis, humanitarian interventionism and international law, the responsibility to protect, and UN reform.

Following the main discussion, there will be an opportunity to continue the debate at a drinks reception.

If you’d like to attend, please RSVP. The exact venue and further details will be announced closer to the date to attendees successfully registering.

We very much hope you will be able to join us for a highly insightful and enjoyable evening.

This event is being held as part of the Pioneering Women series to celebrate the centenary of women's suffrage.
