Event description
Come and hear how storytelling can be used to inspire and develop future global leaders.

About this Event

Come along to hear Debbie Watson, who led our Sankofa - Storytelling for the digital age project, share her wide experience of using storytelling creatively with young people to:

    • inspire and develop them as future global leaders
    • grow skills of personal well-being and resilience
    • develop confidence through oracy and presentation

In the session, Debbie will talk about the tools for telling and creating great stories and how to link them to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She will also show how story has been used creatively in Cumbrian Schools in the CARE (Compassionate and Restorative Education) project to build personal and community resilience during Covid-19. There will be activities that you can take away with you to use in your classroom, as well as other valuable storytelling resources.

Having led the project ‘Sankofa -Storytelling for the digital age’ for CDEC, which uses old and new stories to help children create their own tales linking to the SDGs, Debbie is the perfect person to help us learn how to inspire pupils to find their voice and to spark their imaginations. The outcomes of these activities will help your children become more emotionally resilient, to vision a better future and help them lead the way to create a fairer, more sustainable society.
