In Conversation with Ian Simpson offers an insight into Manchester's most prolific Architect
Ian is the draftsman behind Manchester's Beetham Tower, the first skyscraper outside of London. A local lad done good, born in Heywood, Rochdale, he was integral to the design of a post-Bomb Manchester.
His works brought him to the attention of Sir Howard Bernstein, and his vision of New Cathedral Street, URBIS, Cathedral Gardens, and Exchange Square was Simpson's answer to the divide between Manchester's "wealthy south, and poor north".
His firm, Simpson Hough, is currently developing projects at Blackfriars, London, and was recently given the go-ahead for a striking landmark development, in Manchester, which will be the UK's second tallest building.
Ian talks with candour about his style, his vision, and his work ethic, as well as warmly engaging with the audience about how Manchester can continue to grow and as a world-class city.
