Event Details

As part of Making a Living Week at The Cass, we are delighted to invite the Artistic Director of the Barbican Centre, Louise Jeffreys, to share her experience and discuss what it means to make work as an artist in the 21st century.

Jeffreys began her work for the Barbican in 1999, when she led the newly created BITE (Barbican International Theatre Events) programme. Following executive roles at the Nottingham Playhouse, Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich and English National Opera, she became Artistic Director of the Barbican in 2015. In this role, she directs the whole artistic programme of the Barbican, thus leading the artistic vision of one of the UK's foremost arts institutions, renowned globally for its groundbreaking programme.

This talk, chaired by Dr Jacek Ludwig Scarso, course leader for London Met's Theatre and Film BA, will be an opportunity to find out about her unique insight into the artsworld, sustaining a career in this industry and the role of the arts in an increasingly complex world. This event is free and open to all and will be particularly relevant to those studying and working in the arts and cultural sector.
