We are delighted to host international artist, Riitta Ikonen, for an afternoon exploring fungi, art and human:nature. Riita will also be sharing tips on how to make your own mushroom costume.

Originally from the deep eastern Finnish forests, Riitta Ikonen’s interdisciplinary visual art collaborations look at contemporary human’s belonging in the natural world. The three time Telluride Mushroom Festival costume competition winner's first book (with Karoline Hjorth) Eyes as Big as Plates was nominated ‘Best first photobook in the world' at the Paris Photo / Aperture awards. Ikonen has exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma in Helsinki, London 2012 Olympic Park and the PyeongChang Olympics amongst others. She studied at the University of Brighton and RCA and is a member of the American Stinkhorn Society (A.S.S.) Ikonen is currently nomadic, lecturing, exhibiting and performing around the world.

There will be an opportunity for Q&A with Riitta & the London Fungus Network after the talk. All are welcome, including existing fungi enthusiasts and those looking to explore the topic for the first time.
