Event description

Description

Unfortunately, due to unforseen circumstances this event has been cancelled.

At the Babraham Institute we’re trying to understand the biology of how our bodies work, including what changes as we age and during disease. We’re particularly interested in how our immune systems work, how our DNA is packaged and regulated and how the cells in our bodies communicate.

On Thursday 23rd March, as part of the Cambridge Science Festival you can ask us anything! Join us for a drink and a chat at Michaelhouse Café. We’re very friendly - we like to discuss our work, why it’s important and what it might mean for you in the future. We’re also keen to find out what you think and welcome questions from all - a scientific background is not a requirement. You can also send us a question ahead of time by submitting it through the booking form or to get-involved@babraham.ac.uk.

This is an adult only event, those under the age of 18 will not be permitted.

The Babraham Institute is a world-class research institution, situated at the heart of the Babraham Research Campus. Our mission is to be an international leader in research focusing on basic cell and molecular biology with an emphasis on healthy ageing – a process that starts before we are born and continues until we die.

Research at the Institute addresses fundamental biological questions of how cells and organisms develop and respond to the environment. A particular focus is how we age and studying the underlying mechanisms controlling this process. Our researchers carry out innovative research into the mechanisms that underlie normal cellular processes and functions. Their research focuses on four core themes: immunology (the study of the immune system), DNA packaging and regulation, epigenetics (the study of modifications to our DNA) and signalling (the study of signalling mechanisms within and between cells).
