Event description

Description

Giving in memory is a special way for people to honour the memory of a loved one. It helps people to remember the person who has died and celebrate their life whilst supporting the work of a favourite charity. However it is an area that can be difficult to deal with both from an internal and external perspectives so that there’s no feeling of ‘hearse chasing’. This course will help you with the often overlooked income stream which can also be a valuable way of maintaining long term support, reaching out to younger donors through Tribute Funds and may open doors to future legacies too. Vital to success in this whole area it is extremely important that In Memory fundraisers and donors are offered sensitive, first-class supporter care so this course will also help you to consider simple and sensitive ways to support one-off as well as longer term In Memory supporters.

In-memory asks are sensitive, but done well can create a substantial source of new money for many charities. Come along and find out how to make the most of In Memory fundraising which is a powerful fundraising tool and one of the most under-developed areas for fundraising in many charities. The course will consider the whole area of in memory giving including tribute funds, how to overcome objections internally, the place in the fundraising and operational strategy, who to target, your case for support and how to promote as well as managing and supporting donors and others associated with this income area.

This workshop is for those involved in fundraising and/or managing the fundraising function within their organisation.

This course will help you to:

  • Consider the place of in memoriam fundraising (incl. Tribute Funds) in the organisation's fundraising and operational strategy

  • Deal with a sensitive area of fundraising - both internally and externally

  • Understand how to maximise income from this source

  • Be aware of the importance of 'first class' donor care and the importance of maintaining relationships
