ABOUT THE DESIGNER:

Debuting in London at the Central Saint Martins BA Fall 2025 ready-to-wear showcase in June, Hassan set the catwalk ablaze with potent pigments and powerful messages, putting Palestinian craftsmanship under a contemporary spotlight. Footage of a model swathed in layers of tulle and an oversized veil emblazoned with tatreez patterns went viral. “Divest now” was the message written on her hand, emerging from bold gold and magenta bangles.

“Incorporating my identity into my work is not just important; it is essential,” says Hassan, who is unapologetic about where he comes from and how it informs his design practice. Hassan grew up in Palestine and says that for this collection, it was important to honour the historic textiles and traditions of Gaza. Techniques such as printmaking, hand embroidery, leather work and laser engraving helped him reimagine aspects of his heritage from a creative perspective, and for which he utilised primarily deadstock materials and end-of-stock leather skins. “Through my designs, I deliver bold statements that inspire change, foster meaningful dialogue and promote a more thoughtful and responsible approach to fashion,” he explains.

“My aim is to craft pieces that not only enhance personal expression but also challenge the status quo and elevate our collective voice.”

For while he notes the sorrow and despair that his people face, Hassan desires to infuse his designs with an optimistic outlook. “One is compelled to rise above hypocrisy, hatred and destruction to seek hope, growth and emancipation," he explains. “I firmly believe in the transformative power of design as a force for positive change and progress.” A piece from Hassan's runway show is currently on view at the Victoria & Albert Museum in Dundee, Scotland, as part of Thread Memory: Embroidery from Palestine, an exhibition that runs until Spring 2026.
