ABOUT THE DESIGNER:
Hannah Dixey’s “ALL I WANT IS A MORTGAGE” is as much about yearning for stability as it is about childhood make-believe, turning her rented flat and vintage trinkets into a stage for oversized doll clothes with emotional heft. Think laser-cut pony buttons, felted nostalgia, and prints lifted straight from the lived-in chaos of adulthood.
Studying (BA) Fashion Print at Central Saint Martins after completing a foundation course in Fashion and Textiles, Hannah Dixey’s work draws on memories, family, personal experiences and random objects/images captured in her daily life.
Hannah starts her concepts with a title, such as “I fell in a bush” or “Grandmas Dogs” which helps shape her world. The fluidity of her garments are not tied down by gender, imagining anyone and everyone donning her pieces.
Hannah views her work as her own escapism. As a designer, she pushes to reuse collected fabrics found in scrap stores and car boot sales, retaining their unique stories.
Hannah continues to work on her craft in creative pattern cutting, finding more sustainable ways to create prints and textual manipulations.
