About this event

Stephen will share with us a medley of interesting, amusing and informative wildlife stories. He will describe how he managed to photograph and film some challenging subjects and how an understanding of their natural history and behaviour enabled him to do so. Amongst others, kingfishers, herons, otters and reptiles will be featured.

Formerly a vet, Stephen changed career to pursue a lifelong passion for wildlife, wildlife photography, filming and conservation. Stephen’s material has made a number of TV appearances. His photography concentrates on interesting and challenging wildlife subjects many of which are in and close to his home.

Local Groups play a vital role within Devon Wildlife Trust and are made up of Devon Wildlife Trust members and volunteers who give their time and energy to complement the Trust's work in their local community.

Formed to support its work, they help the Trust in a variety of ways and no two Groups are exactly the same. However, they share a common purpose with all volunteers and staff: to support the Trust in its main goal to achieve a Devon rich in wildlife.

Every Local Group provides an opportunity for Wildlife Trust members and others to join together to discover, enjoy and better protect wildlife. Many also provide practical help on nature reserves or raise significant funds for conservation work. Some spread the word about wildlife and Devon Wildlife Trust in local parish magazines and newspapers, or at fetes and fundraising events. All of them encourage new people to support us.

Usually a programme of engaging talks are hosted throughout the winter, however this year talks are moving online to continue to engage, educate and raise awareness.
