Professor Matthew Paterson introduces his new book ‘In Search of Climate Politics'.
About this event
Come join us to discuss the new book by Matthew Paterson, Professor of International Politics and interim director of the Sustainable Consumption Institute. The book asks an oddly neglected question – In what ways is climate change political? Drawing on analyses of diverse initiatives and conflicts around climate change in Ottawa, Canada, regarding for example renewable energy development, urban densification, and within specific institutions like the University of Ottawa, the book develops a distinctive account of in what ways climate change is intrinsically political, and how understanding those political qualities can help us pursue successful responses to climate change more effectively.
The launch will be animated by a short presentation by Matthew Paterson, and then a Question and Answer period led by Rebecca Willis, Professor in Energy and Climate Governance at Lancaster University.
This event will be held both in person and online. For those who would like to attend online, Zoom instructions will be shared via email, ahead of the event. Please indicate how you would prefer to attend when you register for this event.
We invite in person attendees to join us for a free drinks reception, following the talk. Those attending in person are asked to observe social distancing guidelines where appropriate. The use of face coverings is encouraged.
