Event description
Learn about all things Aurora Borealis including the history, scientific understanding and how to find them.

About this Event

Part of the Dark Skies Festival 2020

The Aurora Borealis are magical and inspirational phenomena that grace the Northern night skies. Join us on a journey that begins with the history of the social and cultural impact of the Northern Lights through to our scientific understanding of the Aurora today. Learn how they are created, how to find them, which apps to use and some hints and tips on how to photograph them.

If we get clear skies, enjoy stargazing sessions to spot Venus and the moon before and after the talk.

Booking essential. Refreshments are included. Suitable for 12 years and above, accompanied by an adult. Wheelchair accessible. Sorry no dogs.

Conditions at the Centre are very dark to allow for an optimal stargazing experience. Please bring a (red) torch. Wear warm clothing and feel free to bring any additional stargazing equipment you wish to use i.e. binoculars, telescope.
