In the Footsteps of St David - Journeying Day Walk
Event Information
Description
Our 8 mile journey is organised jointly with St Davids Cathedral's Ty'r Pererin Education & Pilgrimage Centre and begins in the city of St Davids, in reality a small, attractive village. It was here that St David founded a monastery in the sixth century on a promontory pushing out to sea at the furthest point of south west Wales. This foundation became a major centre of Celtic Christianity and an important place of pilgrimage. Today the lovely Cathedral of St David lies in a little valley in what is perhaps the most rural ecclesiastical setting in Britain.
This is a ‘thin place’ where the boundary between heaven and earth is narrow…From St Davids we walk to the coast at St Non’s where St David was born – on a cliff top during a raging storm! Thereafter its magnificent sea views all the way to St Justinian.
The walk is free, simply bring a packed lunch. There will be a small charge for the bus from St Justinian’s to St Davids.
