About this event

In The Mix is a free 3-day creative music and digital arts project for young people aged 11–15 in Stockport who may be finding things tough.

It’s designed to support young people who are experiencing low mood, anxiety, social isolation, low confidence, or low self-esteem.

Led by friendly, professional Music Mentors, this project helps young people build confidence, learn new skills, and connect with others in a safe, relaxed and supportive environment.

Through music, animation and digital art, they’ll be encouraged to explore their creativity, express themselves, and grow in independence — all at their own pace.

When:

August 5th - 7th

11am - 1pm

What to expect:

Day 1 – Get to Know You & Creative Taster

It’s a gentle, informal start with no pressure to perform or speak up — just a chance for young people to settle in, get to know the space, and begin building bonds with others.

They’ll be invited to share the things that inspire them — whether that’s music, art, films, anime, or TV shows — in whatever way works best for them. There’s no right or wrong way to take part.

The group will also have the chance to try out a range of creative tools at their own pace, including:

  • Exploring how music can inspire artwork or stories
  • Trying out different musical instruments
  • Using mind maps to gently explore ideas for a final piece or performance

Day 2 – Digital Creativity Day

We’ll be looking at how to turn our ideas into digital work using tablets and fun creative apps. Activities include:

  • Creating stop motion animations
  • Learning how to use music software to make beats, sounds or songs

Day 3 – Build & Share Your Final Piece

This day is all about finishing your creative piece or performance. With support from the mentors, we’ll:

  • Add the final touches to our work
  • Get ready to share it in a relaxed showing at the end of the session (performing is optional!)

Parents and carers are welcome to come for this informal presentation.
