In the Starry Sky event
Event Information
About this Event
We look at star constellations, myths and legends, learn how to orientate ourselves as amateur astronomers and the life cycle of stars. We then delve into ancestral skies to understand true darkness and how we can try and protect this for generations to come.
We'll also learn about the impact of Light Pollution on our view of stars and planets, and how we can start to reduce that.
After the presentation, Jo will run through how to take part in the CPRE Star Count. Sign up here for more information on this, and contributing to CPRE's research.
Jo owns and runs Space Detectives which is a company that aims to inspire everyone with Space and Space Exploration. She is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society as well as one of the 10 UK Space Ambassadors working with the European Space Education Office.
CPRE Avon and Bristol, the countryside charity, is part of the wider CPRE family. We believe in a countryside for everyone, no matter where they live.
This presentation is suitable for adults and older children. A perfect lockdown activity! As this is an online event, you will only need to book one place per family.
Sign up to take part in the CPRE Star Count here and you will receive a free activity pack to download.
We are providing these workshops for free, but they do cost us money to run. If you are able to make a donation to support our work, you can do so here. If you're not already a member of our Charity, join us for as little as £3 per month.
