Event description

Description

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of Albany Trust, we're hosting the Inaugural Antony Grey Memorial Lecture at Magdalene College, Cambridge. A wine reception will be provided from 6.30pm, with the lecture beginning at 7.30pm.

Human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell will be delivering the lecture, titled 'What should schools teach pupils about sex?'

Millions of young people enter adulthood emotionally and sexually illiterate, unable to make healthy choices about sex and relationships, due to inadequate relationships and sex education (RSE) in schools. It is often too little, too late, too squeamish or too over-sensitive to religious precepts to be able to address issues such as consent, grooming, abuse, internet safety, sexting and pornography.

Peter Tatchell argues that we need to have open, LGBT-inclusive, age-appropriate discussions about sex with children and young people in schools, but first we need to agree how.
