Event description

Description

Maggie Cusack is Professor of Biomineralisation, Dean of Natural Sciences at the University of Stirling and Vice President of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Her biomineral research includes environmental aspects such as ocean acidification and climate proxies. From a PhD in protein biochemistry where she studied the sweetest substance known, she moved to geosciences to explore the role of proteins in mineral formation. The move established her enthusiasm for multidisciplinary research. In her inaugural lecture, she will provide examples of collaborations with a chemist, an engineer and an artist and explore some of the key influences along the way.
