HPV and inequality: understanding barriers to vaccination and screening

In her inaugural lecture, Professor Sherman will be talking about human papillomavirus (HPV) and the ~5% of cancers it causes. She will discuss her ongoing research which explores the barriers and facilitators to HPV vaccination and cervical screening uptake. Her work frequently focuses on inequalities in uptake, and she will talk about her National Institute for Health and Care Research funded project “Improving access to cervical screening for physically Disabled people”. Professor Sherman will also discuss future directions for her HPV research. Her talk is framed by her own experience as a patient and insights into her life and academic career.
