Inaugural Lecture: Professor Gary West
'Performing Testimony: towards a creative ethnology for the 21st century'
Professor West is the new Personal Chair in Scottish Ethnology at the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures, University of Edinburgh.
As the School of Scottish Studies Archives at the University of Edinburgh reaches its 65th year, retirement is not in the plans. With a newly refurbished home at 29 George Square, we look ahead to the next phase of development of this key cultural hub with excitement and energy. Drawing on several of the current research strands within the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures, Professor West offers some personal reflections on the marriage of testimony and creativity as one potential way forward for an archive-centred ethnology for tomorrow. Expect some tunes and songs.
Lecture is open to all and free to attend.
