Inaugural Professor in Practice Lecture with Kirsty Thomson-Gillespie
Overview
Drawing on her career as a founder, CEO, trustee, and social entrepreneur, Professor Kirsty Thomson-Gillespie will share insights from her entrepreneurial journey and her work alongside universities and colleges. Rooted in Dundee’s long history of women social reformers, the lecture connects past and present, showing how women continue to lead change across academia, charities, social enterprises, and business.
Through founding and leading organisations including The Circle, KTG Impact Associates, and the development of More Than Profit®, Kirsty has worked closely with the University of Dundee through student placements, live projects, and research collaborations, and now in her role as Professor in Practice. She also works as an Entrepreneur in Residence within the college sector, using strong practitioner and community networks to connect learning with real-world impact.
The lecture, More Than Profit®: Women Leading Change, explores how charities and social enterprises work in practice — how they are built, led, and sustained, and how learning, research, and entrepreneurship come together to deliver social impact.
Taking place during International Women’s Week and aligned with the International Women’s Day theme, Give to Gain, the lecture reflects on how women-led organisations give back to their communities while gaining skills, confidence, and long-term impact.
The event is open to students, academics, professionals, charity and social enterprise leaders, community members, and anyone interested in women’s leadership, social impact, and doing business differently.
