The Coils of the Spring

Resilience and Inspirations from Ecosystems

Inaugural Lecture by Professor David Skydmore, Wrexham Glyndwr University

Survival, whether of nature or businesses, depends on resilience. Resilience in the growth and form of trees gives us messages about how we can manage human systems. Yet, ecosystems are complex and there are horizons still to explore. Investigating resilience in soundscapes starts a new journey into understanding this complexity and environmental impacts.

David Skydmore is Professor of Animal and Plant Biology at Wrexham Glyndŵr University, where he holds the Chair of Rural Policy in the School of Social and Life Sciences. He has nearly 30 years of academic experience in horticulture, wildlife and plant biology. David is also Academic Campus Leader for the University’s Northop campus which is home to an organic market garden (which hosts community growing plots), a sustainable woodland being restored to its deciduous state, and meadows managed for biodiversity which provide research and experimental areas to students

Supported by the Royal Society of Biology.

This is a free event. There will be a welcome drinks reception from 5.30pm and there will be an opportunity for questions and answers at the end of the lecture.

Wrexham Glyndŵr University prides itself on its applied research – that is research which makes a difference to industry and communities regionally and nationally.
