Inclusive Communication

This workshop will allow you to learn about the legal, business and human cases for Inclusive Communication related to the various roles you have as elected member of a Scottish local authority. It will allow an exploration of practical tips on making environments and information more accessible as well as top tips on being a good communication partner to people with hearing and / or visual impairments, autism and learning difficulties.

The workshop will support you to:

  1. Understand what inclusive communication is
  2. Understand what communication support needs are
  3. Know why inclusive communication is important
  4. Be equipped with practical tools to be a better communication partner
  5. Be aware of how to make documents more accessible and inclusive

This workshop will support you to communicate in a more inclusive manner with your constituents, fellow elected members and officers. It will also help you identify how your local authority and other public service organisations can be more inclusive and accessible when communicating with local people.

This workshop will be facilitated by Sense Scotland, a leading Scottish charity that successfully support thousands of people with disabilities and communication support needs, along with their families.
