Overview
Join us for a evening of networking and interactive sessions linked to the business and personal case for building inclusion.
The event not only focusses on the business and legal case but will also explore best practice, next practice and how through leveraging technology this supports change and positive organisational culture.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to reflect on your own approaches and learn new ways of enabling and embedding strong organisational inclusion.
This event is aimed at professionals of all levels.
Guest speaker: Sharifa Milford Al-Heshemy - Head of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity at Royal Devon University Hospital & Torbay and South Devon Foundation Trust
An inclusion and equity specialist, with a leadership role in two large NHS South West Trusts Sharifa specialises in culture change, inclusion and organisational development.
She holds an MPhil in Social Policy from The University of Bristol, a Masters in Gender and Identity from The University of Exeter, and a BSc in Psychology from Brunel University. Her academic research is focused on gender equity, social policy, and law in the Middle East, with a thesis specialism looking at personal status law with an intersectional analysis.
Sharifa’s interest in equity began when she was young and left her home country amidst political upheaval and has continued through her work in the human rights field.
She has played a lead role on national projects including the creation of the first inclusive set of ambulance service uniforms and changing the JRCALC ambulance clinical guidelines to include recognition of symptoms on Black and Brown skin. Her recent work includes equity in birthing services with The Positive Birth Company.
She has delivered guest speeches at institutions such as the United Nations and The House of Lords and is a regular panellist at regional and national conferences.
Sharifa is the Chairperson for Exeter UNESCO City of Literature.
