INCON with(27)...1+1+1= a three-person collaboration.
In the summer of 1947, at the age of 19, Yves Klein and his artist friends, the sculptor Arman Fernandez and poet and composer Claude Pascal lay on a beach in the South of France and symbolically divided the world between themselves. Arman chose the earth, Claude chose words, while Yves chose the ethereal space surrounding the planet. In 2023, at the ages of 69, 70 and 50, Neil, Calum and Simon drank cheap ales in The White Swan, Wetherspoons at Highbury Corner, to commence discussions on a 3-way collaborative project as part of the INCON with()…event series. Following further discussions on “stuff”, the artists chose to divide the INCON with() space 3 ways : Calum, the floor, Simon, the walls and Neil, the ceiling.
What is this “stuff”? How might our “stuff” be interesting? What makes “stuff” interesting? What does all this “stuff” do? What does “stuff” codify about actions and things?
How does dividing a room into 3 and filling it with “stuff” balance with dividing the world into 3 parts?
