Friends Who Are Going
Event description

Description

One of the key areas of concern that has been raised by parents is whether their child will be able to make and maintain friendships and that the necessary skills for the life are retained and used functionally as their child gets older. Another vital set of skills that need to be targeted are that of self-help skills, skills that will enable the child or young person to live as independent a life as they possibly can. Various strategies for increasing social skills and self-help skills will be discussed during this workshop enabling delegates to practice and teach in their own environment.

The Empower project is a Big Lottery funded initiative through the Reaching Out Supporting Families Programme which support Families across Mid Ulster and Antrim & Newtownabbey Council areas. The focus of the project is to support children under 12 with Autism, Dyslexia and Dyspraxia, their parents and the wider family circle to enhance confidence and learn together to develop skills to support their children.
