Incredible Innovation Schools Takeover! / Arloesi Anhygoel!

This year, for the first time, the Swansea Science Festival is inviting you and your class to be a part of its very first Schools Programme designed to invigorate and inspire pupils nationwide by exploring the breath-taking world of innovation. You will receive an exciting resource pack and get the chance to take part in an exclusive virtual session with Grace Webb, who you may recognise from BBC Bitesize and ‘Grace’s Amazing Machines’, to chat about your findings and discoveries.

Grace will also take you on a journey through the ages, exploring innovative and ground-breaking moments throughout the history of machines with the help of her very own motorbike!

About this event

When is it? Friday October 22nd 9.30 – 12.00

Who is it for? The event is aimed at pupils from years 5 & 6 (each class should be registered separately)

Next Steps: Each class that registers will receive a resource pack which will contain a plethora of different activities to undertake during the event that will spark pupils' their interest in innovation. These activities will need to be undertaken in the classroom under the supervision of the teacher.

The pupils will then have the chance towards the end of the morning to join a nationwide virtual workshop (via a link they will receive from us) hosted by Technocamps and Grace Webb where they will discuss their findings and experiences of the morning. Grace will also talk about some of the incredible innovations in one of her favourite industries; motorcycling. Motorcycling has been a passion of Grace’s since a young age and she is now a journalist in the automotive world.

In this virtual workshop, Grace will take pupils on a journey through the ages, exploring innovative and ground-breaking moments throughout the history of the motorcycle, with the help of visuals, video interaction and Grace’s very own motorbike!

An Added Bonus! In addition to receiving a resource pack and taking part in the virtual workshop, there are also a limited number of spaces available for in person workshops. If you’d be interested in receiving a physical workshop please tick the box whilst registering (please note that this will be on a first come first served basis). A member of the team will then be in touch to make all necessary arrangements.

Y Camau Nesaf: Bydd pob dosbarth sy’n cofrestru'n derbyn eu pecyn adnoddau eu hunain a fydd yn cynnwys llu o wahanol weithgareddau i’w cynnal yn ystod y digwyddiad a fydd yn tanio diddordeb y disgyblion mewn arloesedd. Bydd angen ymgymryd â'r gweithgareddau hyn yn yr ystafell ddosbarth dan oruchwyliaeth yr athro.

Yna yn hwyrach yn y bore bydd disgyblion yn cael cyfle i ymuno â gweithdy rhithwir gydag ysgolion ledled y wlad (trwy ddolen y byddwn ni wedi ei hanfon) a gynhelir gan Technocamps a Grace Webb lle byddant yn trafod eich canfyddiadau a'ch profiadau o'r bore. Bydd Grace hefyd yn siarad am rai o'r datblygiadau arloesol anhygoel yn un o'i hoff ddiwydiannau; beicio modur. Yn y gweithdy rhithwir hwn, bydd Grace yn mynd â disgyblion ar daith drwy’r oesoedd, gan edrych yn ôl dros gyfnodau arloesol ac anhygoel trwy hanes y beic modur, gyda chymorth delweddau, rhyngweithio fideo a beic modur Grace ei hun!
