Hosted at Microsoft's offices in Paddington, London, this event is for Senior Technology Leaders and Decision Makers within the Charity and Not-for-Profit Sectors. cloudThing, Aristi and Microsoft will examine how Charities can build towards business transformation over time through incremental improvements to technology using Dynamics 365, the Power Platform and new cloud services available through Microsoft Azure.

Ian Drew, Industry Channel Manager at Microsoft and Nick Churchill-Evans from cloudThing will be introducing the event and its speakers before setting the agenda for the day.

10:15 Introducing the AI and Tech for Social Impact Schemes: Ian Drew, Microsoft

Ian Drew will begin the first session with an overview of Microsoft's view of the sector, and how certain trends are impacting the market. He will then move on to discuss the AI for Social Impact and Tech for Social Impact schemes which is a commitment from Microsoft to work with innovative partners and Not-for-Profit organisations worldwide, to develop market leading, cutting edge solutions on the Microsoft Development Stack.

10:45 Dynamics as a Platform in Not-for-Profits: Fran Thomas, cloudThing

Fran Thomas is a Co-Founder and Technical Director at cloudThing; he’s been a solution architect and software for good evangelist for over a decade, designing industry leading solutions for Not-for-Profit organisations such as Comic Relief, British Red Cross, Achievement for All and more. Fran excels at seeing the bigger picture and using technology to solve real world problems. During this live demo, Fran will showcase Dynamics 365 and the Power Platform and demonstrate how it can be used to improve the management of a charity’s everyday tasks, paying particular attention to the recently released Dynamics 365 NFP accelerator. He will also demonstrate how Dynamics can work as a modular solution, minimise the risk of service interruption and integrate effectively with existing IT solutions.

13:00 Industry Guest Speaker - Ian Goodman, British Red Cross

Ian is Programme Director of Data and CRM Strategy at British Red Cross. He'll be discussing the journey British Red Cross has been on so far, from why they choose Dynamics 365 as a platform for transformation, to being a customer of both Microsoft and cloudThing. Ian will be demonstrating live some of the solutions in Dynamics used by British Red Cross, and discussing his plans for the future of the platform.

13:30 AI and Automation: Reducing Churn and Maintaining Sponsor Interest: Greg Roberts, cloudThing

Greg is a Data Scientist at cloudThing, with a Masters degree in Theoretical Physics and Applied Mathematics. He’s has delivered projects focused on using data to accurately 'suggest the next best action' to keep users engaged with content. Greg will discuss how data driven projects can make a huge difference to charities exploring how to reduce donor churn and increase sponsor engagement over a sustained period. He’ll demonstrate some of Microsoft’s latest machine learning products and leveraging Power BI as the front-end for AI results analysis.

14:45 Data Security in Charities: Harj Singh, Aristi

Harj Singh is CEO at Aristi, the Birmingham based cyber security experts. Harj has over twenty years experience advising public and private sector organisations on security, governance, informational assurance and risk management. improving the way information is managed and used. Harj will discuss the cyber and data protection challenges faced by charities and what can be done to ensure risks are managed in a pragmatic and cost-effective manner. Charities are increasingly reliant on IT and technology and are falling victim to a range of malicious cyber activity. Many charities do not believe that their data is sensitive, valuable and vulnerable to attack – Harj will discuss practical policies to implement to ensure security becomes ‘business as usual’ as well as demonstrating ransomware drills and penetration testing.
