Legal and Role of the Independent Supporter
(RoIS) 2 day face-to-face training
This registration relates to the 2 day face-to-face Legal and RoIS training.
Please read this information before you sign up.
This is a two day back-to-back training session. By booking onto this event, you will need to be available to complete both days consecutively, in the same group, in order to complete the training. The Legal training will be followed by the RoIS training.
Who should attend?
This is a closed course and only available to Independent Supporters (full time, part time or in a volunteer capacity) who have been recruited by IS agencies and Information Advice and Support Services under contract to Council for Disabled Children. Important notice: Delegates are required to complete the online training modules before attending both the face-to-face Legal and RoIS training. Therefore, please be mindful when booking dates that you will need to have completed the online training before attending the face-to-face training.Failure to do so will result in you not receiving your certificate on the day.
You will be required to bring your certificate of completion for both online training sessions on attendance of the face-to-face training.
Independent Support training has been developed by the Council for Disabled Children (CDC) on behalf of the Department for Education.
The training package for Independent Support consists of 4 days in total, of which 2 days are online and 2 days to be delivered face-to-face. It is expected that all Independent Supporters, appointed through IS Agencies and Information Advice and Support Services, will complete and pass the Council for Disabled Children training before they start providing parents/carers and young people with time limited independent support.
The training will help Independent Supporters develop their knowledge, skills and confidence, to be able to work effectively when supporting parents/carers of children with SEN, and young people with SEN, through Education, Health and Care assessment and planning (EHCP)process.
Event location and times:
This training will take place on: Thursday 13th October (Legal training) and Friday 14th October (RoIS training) at the following venue: BVSC, 138 Digbeth, Birmingham, B5 6DR
The training will start at 9.00am and finish at 5.00pm on both days. Please arrive for registration in good time as the training will start promptly at 9.00am. Refreshments and a working lunch will be provided. Please ensure you make your booking at least one week before the start of the training to ensure we have accurate numbers for catering purposes.
When making a booking please ensure that you are booking as the attendee as opposed to booking for someone else – this is very important as we need to capture the individual data for each attendee.
Please ensure that the correct email address is enterered when making your booking as you will receive an automated email to confirm your place. If the email spelling is incorrect, you will not receive confirmation of your place and important updates. If you do not receive a confirmation email within 10 minutes of completing your booking, please contact us
immediately as your booking may not be complete which could result in you losing your place on the training. Please do check your spam folders before contacting us.
If you are unable to attend the training, please cancel your ticket as soon as possible so that someone else will get the opportunity to attend this training and also to kindly let us know accurate numbers for catering to avoid wastage.
