Description

Welcome to new STEM Ambassadors from Pzifer! We will be delighted to welcome you to Glasgow University to complete your STEM Ambassador Training.

The STEM Ambassador induction session is a prerequisite to becoming an Approved STEM Ambassador with Science Connects. The session will cover:

  • Introduction to the STEM Ambassador Programme

  • What does it mean to be a STEM Ambassador?

  • Process of becoming a STEM Ambassador / being active

  • Example activities to get you started

  • Overview of Curriculum for Excellence

  • Things to consider as a STEM Ambassador

Before attending this session, please create an Ambassador profile at https://www.stem.org.uk/stem-ambassadors/ambassadors More details on this can be found in the attached document.

Please bring the following documents and information to the session for completion of Disclosure Scotland PVG application:

Documents:

* Passport (if held)

* Driving licence (if held)

* National Identity Card (if held)

* Proof of your current address e.g. a utility bill or bank statement dated within the last 3 months

NB If only two of the above items are held please also bring one of the following: birth certificate, student ID card, second proof of address, etc. Please contact us if you need clarification on any item.

Information required for the form (no proof needed):

* full 5 year address history

* National Insurance number

If you are already a member of the PVG Scheme please bring your current certificate along. You will still be required to bring the necessary documents listed above.

NB If you’re unsure if you’re a PVG Scheme member please call Disclosure Scotland on 03000 2000 40 to check as filling in the wrong type of application will delay processing. You need your PVG membership/ID number and the type of cover i.e. children and/or protected adults.

TRAVEL

This training session will be in Room 255 (Reading Room) Kelvin Building, University of Glasgow.

The Kelvin Building is situated near Botany Gate on University Avenue. There is a campus map at http://www.gla.ac.uk/media/media_335384_en.pdf and the Kelvin Building is B8 on the lower left quadrant.

The nearest Subway station is Hillhead (a 5 minute walk).

Please note that parking is limited at the University due to major building works. There may be parking space available in the grounds of Kelvingrove Museum (a 10-15 minute walk) or in nearby residential streets.
