Event description

Join me on a wander through the backstreets of Islington as we follow a trail of ghostsigns above and around the Regents Canal.

Ghostsigns are advertisements for a product or company that is long-gone but still visible today and, on this tour, we'll be looking mostly at the hand-painted-onto-walls variety, as shown above.

See and hear about a diverse range of companies and products from ladies' underwear and fancy boxes to metals, canvas and ceramics.

The walk is just over a mile and is planned to last 90mins but please allow two hours to cover time for questions and discussions that often ensue on walks of this kind.

For last-minute bookings, enquiries or updates please call me prior to the tour start time on 07941 475003.

Also see my other ghostsign walks in other locations - Holloway, Upper Street, Camden Town and more...

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

There is no minimum age – children aged 5 or younger are welcome at no charge.
However, please note that all other children up to age 15 must be accompanied by an adult – one child per paying adult.

Can I just show up and pay on arrival?

No, I'm sorry – this is a ticketed event and spaces are limited – places must be booked in advance.

Where exactly does this tour start?

Details of the exact meeting point will be on your booking confirmation and ticket which will be sent via email.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No. Please don't waste time and resources printing out your ticket.
I will have a list of attendees on the day, although it would be wise to make a note of your booking reference

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

As you can appreciate, transfers/reassignments do not apply to those who just do not show up.

However, in cases of illness or unforseen circumstances I will be happy to transfer your booking to another of my walks on another date as long as you let me know at least two hours before your booked walk is due to start.

Alternatively ... perhaps you might be able to offer your ticket to a friend ... please see the next question...

Is it OK if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

This is fine – just email/text me the name of the person who will be taking your place.

Is this tour suitable for wheelchairs or prams?

Not really There are narrow pavements, some towpaths plus a flight of stairs. However, I can organise an easy-access bespoke version for a group of minimum 5 people using a slightly alternative route which would add approx 15 mins to the tour – please do get in touch if you would like to arrange this.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

Jane ParkerMy guiding style is inclusive, open and friendly. I design and research every tour myself – in fact, the research never ends.
The walking tours I offer are all on subjects I am genuinely interested in – each highlights a different facet of my personality. I am specifically interested in the changing face of our streets over time and how those changes have affected local communities and the social history of an area.
Please see my website for more information.
