About this event

Community • City & Town

Director at Buildeco Offsite Architecture, Audley wanted to be an architect from the age of twelve. He had no idea how to get there and didn’t know how to pronounce the word! His school career adviser told him, ‘You’ll never be an architect: you don’t have the qualifications’.

His entrepreneurial journey began while he was still in school. He entered full-time employment, starting on the bottom rung of the ladder with City & Guilds qualifications. He steadily progressed, eventually earning his Architectural Association Diploma and completing RIBA Part 3.

Audley became the UK’s first West Indian born architect and founded the first Black-led architectural practice, championing sustainability and modern methods of construction.

He believes that the role of architects is about to undergo a dramatic transformation, particularly with the increased usage of AI. Having developed some digital platforms impacting retrofit and construction, he claims that he is ready to face the consequences head-on.
