From Publisher to Agent: Discovering Talent, Nurturing Books, and Managing Careers
Join us for an evening of Industry Insight from Northern powerhouse Emma Layfield. Emma has 25 years of experience as an editor and publisher of children’s books, working for some of that time at Hachette Children’s Group as Group Picture Book Publisher where she commissioned the bestselling ‘Oi Frog!’ series by Kes Gray & Jim Field and began Steve Antony’s career with the international hit ‘Please Mr Panda’. Last year Emma launched Children’s Books North Agency, a children’s literary agency representing Northern and Scottish talent. Emma is also Co-founder of Children’s Books North Network and a mentor with the AOI, SYP North and Children’s Books North Network, so is overflowing with wisdom to share!
We can’t wait to hear all about Emma’s career, how she discovers talent, works with authors and illustrators, and what plans she has next. Plus, Emma will share some exciting information on the inaugural Children’s Books North Network Prize!
An audience Q&A opportunity will follow Emma’s talk, so get your industry questions ready.
The event will be held online via ZOOM - the link will be sent to you directly via email on the day of the talk around 5pm UK time.
All tickets are £16 INCLUSIVE of the booking fee - and are non-refundable.
The event is LIVE - but buying a ticket will give you access to a recording which will be available to view back for one week afterwards. You will be sent a link for this the day after the event.
