Description

How can we look after each other?

Our next Industry Talk will look at how our industry looks after each other - how do we make sure our staff are cared for, are safe and the work space is a place to thrive in and for careers to grow?

We are excited to have three dynamic speakers who will talk through these questions, thinking about the space of work to the space of our city, finishing off with a Q&A with all three speakers.

Amy Lamé – London’s Night Czar
Oisin Rogers – GM at The Guinea Grill
Missy Flynn – Co-founder Rita’s dinning, Consultant

Bio and details of what each of speaker will talk about:

Amy Lamé – London’s Night Czar
London’s night life is the hospitality’s rush hour and work hours. Amy will speak about the work she has done in making London a diverse and thriving 24 hour city, including the launch of the Night Tube and Night Overground, Women’s Night Safety Charter, and saving bars, pubs and clubs from closure.

Amy Lamé, originally from New Jersey, has been a Londoner for over 25 years. She has worked in the night time economy her entire life, and has a long and successful track record as a leader and collaborator in the cultural and creative industries. Amy is co-founder of the Olivier Award winning arts company and club night Duckie, and has hosted the club every Saturday at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern for 23 years. She was appointed London’s first Night Czar by the Mayor, Sadiq Khan, in November 2016.

Oisin Rogers – GM at The Guinea Grill
Oisin will speak about his career, how he's built and created teams that thrive and grow, and also address the topic of badly behaved customers and how to support staff when that happens.

Dubliner Oisin Rogers began working in pubs at 17 and was appointed manager of The Magpie and Stump Chelsea in 1991. With a lean towards pubs with restaurants and great food, he has run many pubs across London over the years, notably The Ship at Wandsworth, The Boathouse Putney and The St Margarets Tavern. He currently resides at The Guinea Grill in Mayfair, London's oldest steakhouse and a famous London pub since 1435.

Missy Flynn – Co-founder Rita’s dinning, Consultant
Missy is going to speak from her experience as both an employee and an employer on how places of work within the hospitality industry can be balanced, addressing specifically the language and tone of the kitchen and the bar, promoting equal and safe workspaces that encourage better relationships within team members, healthier approaches to work and demonstrating a company’s values through it's policies.

Missy has worked across bar, front of house, operations and branding for over 12 years, starting as a bartender working in some of London’s best before settling into a marketing role at Hawksmoor restaurant. In 2012 Missy Co-Founded influential East End restaurant Rita's - introducing London to a new take on modern American comfort food. International work includes 6 months in Asia in 2016, launching Potato Head Hong Kong. Missy speaks regularly on the topics of entrepreneurialism, on F&B start-ups and founding food businesses as well as working on smaller projects with Rita's and other brands.
