Background/ Context

Cyber-attacks and related incidents continue to feature – with news of ransom ware attacks and vulnerabilities being exploited by a wide range of threat actors. Organisations are waking up to the fact that it is not IF but WHEN they will be at the receiving end.

In addition, organisations are asking individuals to trust them with more and more personal data and as GDPR comes into force, organisations have increased responsibility to safe guard the data that they hold on individuals and individual have increased rights to demand this.

It is of paramount importance that personal data held by organisations is adequately protected and organisations are taking necessary steps to put in place safeguards to reduce the risk to business processes, reputational damage and loss of consumer confidence.

Collaboration and partnership are key weapons that organisations – sharing of intelligence, resources and expertise, innovative approaches to dealing with challenging problems and strengthening the local public sector response to cyber threats and defending against cyber-attacks.

This conference will provide delegates the forum to discuss key issues, share knowledge and find out the latest approaches to increasing cyber resilience

The iNetwork InfoSec 2018 Conference is the iNetwork flagship event for information security professionals. This will be the 4th conference, building on success from previous years. This event will be of interest to colleagues that have responsibility for their organisation's information security, information assurance, information risk or compliance. This may include (but not limited to) those with the following job titles: Information Security Managers, Information Risk Managers, Compliance Managers and members of the North West Warning, Advice Reporting Point.

Our events provide a forum for colleagues from local authorities, health organisations and other public sector organisations to come together to discuss information sharing, information security or cyber security issues that impact on the public sector and to provide learning opportunities, encourage innovation and efficiency savings whilst delivering improved outcomes for citizens.

We are keen to promote knowledge sharing and good practice across the sector. About registration: This event is free to colleagues from iNetwork or Advancing Quality Alliance (AQuA). This includes the majority of NW local authorities and NHS Trusts in the North West region. Please register for this event if you plan to attend, as unregistered attendees risk being turned away on the day. You will need to bring a form of photo ID to collect your delegate badge

Name badges will be printed according to the information that is entered on the registration screen. Please ensure you use proper case. If you are registering for other people please enter their full details otherwise they will not have name badges or be on the entry list and therefore may also not be able to enter.
