A symposium examining the lives and work of older actresses: their performances, receptions, personae and legacies over the past 360 years.

About this Event

This two-day symposium at Christ Church, University of Oxford, explores the lives, performances, and receptions of older actresses from 1660 to the present day. Confirmed keynote speakers include Professor Gilli Bush-Bailey (Central School of Speech and Drama), Professor Jacky Bratton (Royal Holloway), and Professor Fiona Gregory (Monash University).

The symposium is directed by Professor Mary Luckhurst and Dr Sophie Duncan. It is jointly convened by the School of Arts, University of Bristol and Christ Church, University of Oxford, with support from The Oxford Research Centre for the Humanities (TORCH).
