Description

To be delivered by: STAR

Steve Wood is a Professional Coach and NLP Master Practitioner, specialising in personal and organisational resilience. Over the last 21-years he has supported literally hundreds of people and teams, especially within the culture and heritage sectors. Steve is also an accredited Mental Health First Aider.

After a 30-year career in theatre as an actor, writer and director, Graham Wyles decided to use his skills and experience to support leadership development. He now specialises in helping people to manage their mental and emotional states, communicate with genuine impact and harness their charisma and creativity.

Summary:

Influencing and advocacy is now recognised as a key component of organisational resilience within the culture and heritage sectors. The skills and techniques are also an important aspect of personal workplace resilience. When leaders develop influencing and advocacy skills and implement proactive plans this has a significant impact on the success and resilience of the organisation...and the leaders!

This workshop provides practical support to enable archive sector leaders to improve and sustain organisational and personal resilience through a proactive approach to influencing and advocacy. This will help the people and organisations to thrive, even within the most challenging environment.

Who is it for?

Who should come to this?

The events will be for everyone working in the archive sector including, public, independent and voluntary organisations, HE, businesses and all others with an interest in preserving our national heritage, supporting our information economy and strengthening the culture sector.

This course will be particularly useful for anyone who needs to influence others and advocate for their archive service; whether you are looking to increase the profile of your service internally or externally this course will be of benefit to you.

Learning objectives:

  • Insight to the concept and components of influencing and advocacy
  • An influencing and advocacy plan for their organisation
  • Enhanced capability to implement the above plan (and wider influencing and state managing skills)
  • Enhanced self-awareness and commitment to continual personal development

Delegates will also have the opportunity to build their network of peers, potentially leading to mutual peer support and collaborative working in the future.

Style of Workshop

During this workshop we will coach the delegates to produce influencing and advocacy plans for their organisations and to develop a range of influencing and state managing skills. We underpin this with group discussions to challenge people’s thinking about the concept of influencing…what it is and what it isn’t. Therefore, the workshop is much more a group coaching session than a traditional training course.

A light lunch will be provided, please let us know of any dietary requirements in advance.
