Curious about doing a PhD in Informatics? Come along to our Informatics PhD Fair and find out more about postgraduate research.
We have a range of funded opportunities and programmes to suit various profiles, with some ‘straight to research’ options, and programmes that offer specialist courses to support students as they start their research journey (Centres for Doctoral Training).
If you are not sure a PhD is an option for you, we are hoping we can convince you that it could be. Along with information about our programmes, you will be able to discuss various support and funding options available to you in our school if you have caring responsibilities, disabilities or learning differences, or any other special circumstances.
If you join the event you’ll get the chance to:
- Explore our six research institutes, covering everything from AI, language, and robotics to systems, neuroscience, and the foundations of computer science.
- Learn about our five Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) in cutting-edge areas like Quantum Informatics, Responsible NLP, Machine Learning Systems, AI for Robotics, and AI for Biomedical Innovation. These are generously funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).
- Chat to programme directors, potential supervisors, our Graduate School and CDT teams, and—most importantly—current PhD students who can share their experiences.
- Join info sessions and panel discussions to get practical advice about our programmes and the application process.
Whether you’re ready to apply or just exploring your options, this is a great chance to ask questions, meet the people behind the research, and see where a PhD in Informatics could take you.
We’d love to see you there!
We will send a detailed schedule to participants closer to the date, along with a questionnaire to find out more about you so we can tailor future events.
