Information chaos, Trump, and how we regain trust in news - Alan Rusbridger
Event Information
About this Event
With COVID-19 continuing to make our usual physical events impossible, our Society would like to invite you to an engaging online discussion, led by Alan Rusbridger, on the topic of information chaos, Trump, and how we regain trust in news. The event will take place via Zoom from 8 to 9pm CET on Friday, February 26, 2021.
Alan Rusbridger is a British journalist, Principal of Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford and the former editor-in-chief of The Guardian. In 2020 he also became a member of Facebook’s Oversight Board.
In his recent book, News and How to Use It: What to Believe in a Fake News World, Rusbridger talks with passion about social media, citizen journalism and new business models. There is no shortage of cheap and cheerful websites that cater to commentator’s vanities. But who is going to fund the journalism is that really matters— the investigations, the search for fact that those in power would rather we did not have? Do we want Silicon Valley to be its philanthropist?
